For years, I’ve told the story of how I went from a broke 19-year-old with no car, no money, no diploma, and no real idea what I was doing with my life to building a career as a professional entertainer and art’trepreneur.

Now, you can listen to that story.

Off Course On Purpose (written by Bill Berry, and read by Brad Grochowski) is my story about figuring life out the hard way—and learning that sometimes getting completely off course is exactly what puts you on the right path.

It starts with a decision I made in 1995 to walk away from the dead-end life I was expected to live. That decision led to years of uncertainty, ridiculous adventures, unexpected opportunities, failures, successes, and eventually a career I could never have planned on paper.

The book isn’t really about juggling, sword swallowing, or becoming a professional entertainer. Those things are part of the story, but underneath it all is something much bigger:

I’ve spent more than three decades collecting stories, lessons, mistakes, victories, and occasional disasters along the way. And this book, Off Course On Purpose, brings many of those experiences together into one story about taking chances, changing direction, and learning to trust the path—even when you have absolutely no idea where it’s going.
