“World’s Hottest Date Night”

The name is not an exaggeration. We went in expecting something fun to do together and came out with a genuinely unforgettable night.

You actually learn to handle fire how to light a torch properly, pass flame from hand to hand, do tongue-to-hand transfers, and extinguish it safely in your mouth and your palm. It sounds terrifying written out, but by the halfway point we were both doing things we’d have sworn were impossible an hour earlier. Watching your partner pull it off for the first time is half the fun.

The best part, though, is the reframe. You spend your whole childhood hearing “fire is bad, don’t touch it,” and in a couple of hours that flips into respect and confidence. It left us talking the whole drive home, not just about fire, but about where else we’re both carrying old fears that don’t actually serve us anymore.

I love that last part, because that’s really what I’m going for with this experience. Yes, you get to eat fire. Yes, you get to play with something that most of us were taught never to touch. But there’s something pretty great about doing something slightly ridiculous and slightly scary with someone you care about—and realizing halfway through that you can actually do it.
